NSHSS Ambassador Program Benefits

As an NSHSS Ambassador, you’ll gain access to exclusive leadership opportunities, volunteer hours, and a supportive student community, plus real ways to build your resume and share your voice.

Get exclusive access to our Ambassador Slack community where you can chat with peers, receive important program announcements, and collaborate on projects with students across the country.

Take your involvement to the next level by applying to become a Team Lead or joining the Ambassador Leadership Council. Many Ambassadors grow from team members → team leads → council leaders during their time in the program.

Discover additional volunteer opportunities shared by other Ambassadors, join team projects, make new friends, and strengthen your resume through meaningful involvement.

Get the chance to take over NSHSS Instagram Stories, host Q&As, and share your day with a large student audience.

Become a role model for middle school students through the NSHSS Young Scholars community—supporting younger peers through webinars and mentorship opportunities. You can also become a Senior Ambassador and help welcome new Ambassadors by supporting onboarding and answering their questions.

Grow Your Leadership Experience

Your first Ambassador activity does not have to be your last. Many students begin by participating in activities or joining a committee, support team, or club. As they gain experience, they can take on greater responsibility and apply for student leadership positions.

Along the way, you can build experience in communication, teamwork, project planning, public speaking, mentoring, content creation, community building, and leadership, skills and accomplishments you can highlight on college applications, resumes, scholarship applications, and future leadership opportunities.

Ambassador

Explore the Ambassador Program at your own pace. Join conversations, discover opportunities, and find the activities that interest you most.

Take a more involved role by participating on Slack, attending meetings, and joining Ambassador initiatives, committees, teams, clubs or events.

Step into a formal leadership role as a Committee Lead, Support Team Lead, or Club Lead. Help guide other Ambassadors, organize activities, and move student-led initiatives forward.

Earn Senior Ambassador status after completing one full year in the program. Senior Ambassadors can help onboard and mentor newer Ambassadors through the Senior Mentors Committee program.

Serve at the highest level of student leadership. Council members run for office, are elected by fellow Ambassadors, and help shape the direction, priorities, and future of the Ambassador Program.

Hear From NSHSS Ambassadors

Ambassadors consistently tell us that some of the most meaningful parts of the program are the leadership experience they gain, the people they meet, the opportunities they discover, and the confidence that comes from getting involved.

This experience helped me develop greater self-confidence, strengthen my communication skills, and become more comfortable engaging with diverse groups of students. It also taught me how to represent an organization professionally, answer questions thoughtfully, and support others as a peer resource. I am grateful for the connections I made and for the opportunity to contribute to a program that encourages students to pursue their academic and professional goals.

"Being an NSHSS Ambassador has been one of my best decisions yet! I admire how we’re all goal-oriented and strive for greatness within ourselves and the program. I’ve been able to expand my network and been offered tons of opportunities exclusively for NSHSS members! The scholarships, internships, and offers NSHSS presents to us is a major plus. NSHSS teaches me to apply myself; if you don’t get involved, there won’t be many results to show. Thank you National Society of High School Scholars for giving high school, undergraduates, and others an amazing experience!"

"I want to say that being an ambassador at NSHSS is an amazing experience. I've met so many people from other states and even some others here in Florida. NSHSS has so much to offer from webinars to scholarships. I really enjoyed the ACT/SAT prep I received as well. It was easy to understand and I scored well on both tests afterwards. I really appreciate NSHSS for being there for me and helping me along my college experience. The virtual Scholar's Summer Event was my favorite so far because I had the opportunity to help new and current members and share my experiences and encourage them to join the Ambassador program."
